INTRODUCTION TO TARO
Taro is a plant with both corms and cormels. The corms weigh from 1.5 to over 2 kg, with few cormels and a high starch content. In Vietnam, there are many varieties of taro, such as green taro, white taro, purple taro, pink taro, mint taro, wax taro, lotus taro, fragrant taro, elusive taro, and more. In the northern region, taro is mainly cultivated in mountainous and midland provinces, while it is less grown in low-lying areas prone to flooding due to susceptibility to rotting.
Taro contains a rich array of nutrients, including organic compounds, minerals, and essential vitamins for good health.
