Calamansi essential oil contains a high concentration of limonene, contributing to its refreshing and invigorating scent.

In the food industry, calamansi essential oil is recognized as safe and has the ability to combat both gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, S. typhimurium) and gram-positive bacteria (S. aureus, B. cereus, B. subtilis, L. bulgaricus, and B. laterosporus) as well as the fungus C. albicans. Calamansi essential oil is being researched as a natural alternative to synthetic preservatives in food.
Inhibiting the formation of NDMA (N-nitrosodimethylamine) - a carcinogen
NDMA is a carcinogenic substance commonly found in food, air, cosmetics, and drinking water. Author Sawamura has demonstrated that calamansi essential oil has the ability to inhibit 50-70% of NDMA formation, helping prevent cancerous cells from forming in the body and providing an effective solution in cancer prevention and treatment.
Calamansi essential oil has excellent antioxidant properties
The antioxidant capacity of calamansi essential oil has been demonstrated using the DPPH assay. This role helps reduce harmful free radicals in cells, protects the skin, slows down the aging process, reduces the formation of wrinkles, and balances metabolic processes in the body.
