THE SIGNIFICANCE OF FRAGRANCE CONCENTRATION IN PERFUME PRODUCTS

Perfume is not just a means of creating a fragrance for the body; it also reflects one’s style and personal beauty. In the world of perfumes, concentration plays a crucial role, influencing the longevity of the fragrance, the duration of its presence, and the entire production process. Understanding the significance of perfume concentration helps us choose products that reflect class and individual style. Below, PEROMA invites you to learn more about the meaning of perfume concentration in fragrance products!

What is Perfume Concentration?

Perfume concentration refers to the level of aromatic elements used inside a perfume bottle and their ability to retain the scent. In reality, perfumes do not contain 100% aromatic oils creating the fragrance but are a mixture that includes oils, alcohol, and other auxiliary ingredients in certain formula ratios. On the market, you will commonly encounter symbols like EDT (Eau de Toilette) and EDP (Eau de Parfum) on perfume bottles. Additionally, there are two other types of fragrances denoted by different symbols: Eau de Cologne and Perfume. Each type has its own characteristics, and let’s explore them together with PEROMA!

Perfume (or Extrait or Extract): contains 20-30% fragrance oil, with a scent longevity of 8-10 hours.

Eau de Parfum: contains 8-15% fragrance oil, with a scent longevity of 6-8 hours.

Eau de Toilette: contains 4-10% fragrance oil, with a scent longevity of 4-6 hours.

Eau de Cologne (or Cologne): contains 2-5% fragrance oil with a scent longevity of about 3 hours.

Eau Fraiche: contains less than 3% fragrance oil; this type of fragrance does not retain its scent for long.

In addition to the common types mentioned above, we may encounter other fragrance types with unfamiliar names:

Soie de Parfum: 15-18% fragrance oil.

Perfume oil: 15-30%, including a concentration of fragrance oil.

How does the concentration of perfume affect the fragrance?

When using perfume, everyone will likely notice the difference in the scent at different times. Each perfume has three fragrance layers, and these layers will gradually appear over a specific period. Depending on the concentration of each type of perfume, you will perceive the fragrance of each layer differently.
