OVERVIEW OF PEROMA’S CONTRIBUTION AT THE SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP AND BEAUTY TRENDS
At the ‘Science and Beauty Trends’ seminar organized by BeautyCare Expo, PHARMEDI held at the BeautyCare Expo 2023 exhibition, PEROMA Vietnam represented SMEs with a presentation focusing on Harnessing Bioactive Compounds in Essential Oils and Natural Plant Extracts for Highly Efficient Applications in the Production of Cosmetic and Functional Food Products.
To kick off the sharing session at the seminar, PEROMA Vietnam introduced the value and benefits of natural compounds that offer outstanding biological activities for health and beauty, such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties, melanin inhibition for skin whitening, and more. This underscored the trend of applying natural compounds in pharmaceuticals and functional foods in today’s progressive era.
With over 20 years of experience in producing fragrances and natural ingredients such as extracts and essential oils, meeting multiple international standards like ISO 9001:2015, FSSC 22000, HALAL, KOSHER, PEROMA utilizes Vietnam’s rich natural herbal resources alongside modern extraction technology. This research and successful extraction of high-efficiency natural active ingredients in the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and functional foods serve as a complete replacement for synthetic ingredients with many side effects, ensuring safety and gentleness for human health and beauty.
THE APPLICATION OF NATURAL INGREDIENTS IN THE PRODUCTION OF PHARMACEUTICALS, COSMETICS, AND FUNCTIONAL FOODS.
Natural ingredients applied in pharmaceuticals
PEROMA conducts research and extracts active ingredients from Vietnamese herbal extracts such as milk thistle, astragalus, calendula, and lady’s mantle, along with natural essential oils like lemongrass, basil, ginger, and persimmon, for use in producing oral medicines. These products are developed to treat and assist in treating various conditions such as coughs, digestive issues, neurological problems, liver complications, dental issues, and even cancer.
The active ingredients from extracts and essential oils are also used in producing topical medications that aid in scar healing, pigmentation reduction, anti-inflammation, and antibacterial purposes. Furthermore, natural active ingredients can be utilized in injectable medications, such as formulations containing flavonoids from Ginkgo biloba; injectables containing paclitaxel isolated from Taxus Brevifolia; injectables containing vinblastine isolated from Vinca rosea.

In the discussion at the workshop, PEROMA also emphasizes the trend of incorporating natural active ingredients into the production of skincare, hair care, and oral care cosmetics. This topic is considered attractive and has garnered significant attention from partner clients, cosmetic manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and especially skincare consumers.
For Hair Care products
Common applications in shampoo, conditioner, scalp exfoliants, hair masks, and hair mists involve PEROMA harnessing natural extracts and essential oils such as fleeceflower root, ginger, coffee, ginseng, grapefruit oil, basil, and cedarwood to support nourishment, enhance collagen for stronger hair roots, reducing hair loss, and promoting hair growth. Some extracts like horsetail, nettle, cedarwood, witch hazel, and essential oils such as peppermint, frankincense, and lemongrass contain compounds with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, aiding in cleansing, fungal inhibition, and preventing dandruff buildup for healthier hair and scalp.
For Skin Care products
There’s widespread application in producing facial cleansers, moisturizers, serums, face masks, makeup removers, toners, lotions, cleansing solutions, and more. PEROMA harnesses natural extracts and essential oils to address and restore various skin concerns such as acne treatment, moisturization, anti-aging, skin whitening, and reducing acne scars. The majority of active ingredients for skincare products are derived from Vietnam’s natural resources, which are both familiar and distinctive, such as turmeric, tea tree, patchouli, green tea, aloe vera, culantro, and rice bran.

Commonly applied in the production of toothpaste, mouthwash, and mouth oils. PEROMA utilizes natural extracts such as green tea, guava leaves, goldenrod, chamomile, and popular essential oils like cinnamon, clove, sandalwood, lemon, and peppermint to aid in treating cavities, gum inflammation, and combating bad breath.

PEROMA extracts natural compounds from plants applied in functional foods to supplement carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals such as swiftlet nest powder, honey powder, vegetable powder, multigrain powder, etc. They provide bioactive compounds that help fortify the body’s immunity, such as ginseng extract, cordyceps, and reishi mushrooms.
Wrapping up the sharing session, PEROMA’s representatives received many inquiries and confidently addressed various concerns surrounding the topic of exploiting “natural active ingredients” with high effectiveness in producing pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and functional food products.
