FRAGRANCE RETENTION PARTICLES AND ENCAPSULATION
A significant breakthrough in fragrance technology is the creation of fragrance retention particles using micro-encapsulation technology. MICRO-ENCAPSULATION TECHNOLOGY
The application of micro-encapsulation technology in fragrances is a significant advancement in the fragrance industry, creating protected fragrance particles that are shielded from external factors and prolong the scent’s longevity. Micro-encapsulation technology involves a process in which small particles or droplets are surrounded by a coating to form tiny capsules with various beneficial properties. In simple terms, fragrance microcapsules are small spherical structures with a protective membrane, allowing them to persist for a longer time on fabrics, fibers, and other materials.
The inner material of the microcapsules is the fragrance components, often referred to as the core. The outer material is called the shell, which consists of various specially structured materials that provide protection and release the fragrance at appropriate times. Most fragrance microcapsules have diameters ranging from a few micrometers to a few millimeters.
BENEFITS OF FRAGRANCE ENCAPSULATION
The use of encapsulated fragrances, or fragrance microcapsules, helps enhance the longevity of the fragrance in later stages of the laundering process, such as after drying, during storage, or when wearing the garments.
During usage, fragrance microcapsules can be ruptured and release the scent due to physical, mechanical, and temperature-related impacts. The encapsulation provides the ability to preserve and control the release of fragrance over an extended period. Conventional fragrances that do not utilize microencapsulation technology may experience a gradual decrease in scent intensity over time. With the use of fragrance microcapsules, the scent intensity not only remains unaffected but can also be enhanced with time as controlled release becomes more pronounced.
